Clint was born into an abusive family with an alcoholic father and an uncaring mother. Though he did not take most of the abuse like Barney, I would think that it was still pretty bad (cigarette burns, cuts from glass bottles, being pushed and falling on a knife, being hit with a belt, ect.)
